Episode 8 - Disaster Movie
Dave and Diane review Disaster Movie.
Acting: Both Dave and Diane despised the acting. Dave thought the dialouge was awful, the impressions were utterly off, and, in general, the actors were quite terrible. Diane felt that the fact that several actors played multiple roles, and that Kim Kardashian was the movie's biggest name were laughable.
Directing: Once again, both hosts hated the work done here. Dave called Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer talentless hacks, and Diane said that they should never have branched of from the Scary movie team (they wrote, produced, and directed Epic Movie, Date Movie, and Meet the Spartans as well).
Music: Diane actually thought the music was decent, noting that she liked the three Chipmunks singing and that the High School Musical parody was okay. Dave, on the other hand, disliked the music greatly, remarking that he hated the song at the end of the movie and that the music did a very poor job of highlighting scenes.
Message: Diane thought the movie had no message whatsoever other than to take childish pokes at other films. Dave went on rather large rant on how movies of this terrible nature disprove the idea that movies, but not videogames, are art.
Plot: Diane and Dave, once again, agreed that the plot was terrible. Diane, in her own words, summarized the plot by saying "blah, blah, blah." Dave believed that the plot was a terrible spawn of the one in Cloverfield, a movie which he liked a great deal.
Overall Grades: Diane flatly stated that this movie earns a big fat F, and that it is perhaps the worst movie she has ever seen. Dave believed that this movie does not even deserve a place on the same scale as the other movies that he has rated. Instead, Dave said that it should be categorized as the "Worst movie of all time." (To this, I'm sure we all say "Nice work Dave, you've already violated the podcast rules that you created.")
Dave's DVD of the Week: This week, Dave reviewed The Office: Season 2 on DVD. Dave stated that the show is fantastic, and is perhaps the best one on TV currently. He remarked that the humor is subtle, they make smart pop culture references (unlike Disaster Movie), and you can actually care about story lines. Dave also noted that there are some decent special features on the final disk. He gave the DVD an A, and the show an A+. His only complaint was that the commentaries weren't for all of the episodes, and that they weren't quite as sharp as he would have liked.
Notes: Sorry on being a few days late! This, however, really shouldn't happen again.

Episode 2 - X-Files: I Want to Believe
Dave and Diane review X-Files: I want to believe.
Acting: Dave thought the acting was decent, though he did not like Xzibit's performance and thought that Mulder and Scully's relationship was a bit weak. He also thought we should have seen more of Mitch Pileggi's character (Agent Skinner). Diane thought the acting was weak, citing the fact that she did not feel Xzibit or Amanda Peet acted like FBI agents.
Directing: Dave liked how Chris Carter shot the movie, saying that it felt like an X-Files episode on a grander scale, but did not some of the plot decisions Carter made. Diane liked the directing as well, noting that she felt subtle undertones of horror movies and Catholocism.
Music: Diane liked the music alot, and noted that it worked well and was passionate, while Dave wished that they had used music similar to that in the show.
Message: Dave found the message in the movie to be a bit confused, with several conflicting ideas, but in general liked the fact that the movie gave breathing room for you to decide what you wanted to believe, even in regards to the veracity of the supernatural claims. Diane agreed, but stated that she did not like the fact that vehicle used to convey the message was a pedophile priest.
Plot: Diane liked the plot, noting that it was able to keep her entertained. Dave thought it took some interesting turns, but overall did not like it. He believed it felt like standard fare for a thriller or CSI episode, not the X-Files.
Comparison to the TV series: Dave (being a huge fan of the show) was dissapointed by the movie. He believed that, in comparison to the show, it had lost some of its "magic". He belived that Carter should have made the movie based on the UFO subplot towards the end of the series.
Overall Grades: Diane gave the movie a C-, noting that people should simply skip this movie. Dave gave the movie a C+, and felt that fans of the series might want to check it out.

Episode 1 - Introductions
This week, the hosts introduce themselves, their podcast, and tell what is to come in the future.
Dave is sixteen years old, and currently in high school. Though he has very eclectic movie tastes, his favorite genre is action.
Diane is a "young forty-something", and also happens to be Dave's mother. Some of her favorite movies are horror, cheesy chick flicks, and even some action blockbusters.
The podcast is going to be weekly show where Dave and Diane discuss a movie they've seen in theaters. They will discuss each movie's plot, characters, acting, music, directing, and any other elements that they feel is important. Then, they will provide a letter grade of the movie (i.e. The Dark Knight earns an A+), and suggest whether or not to check it out.
For the future: Dave and Diane will stay very consistent, and will be coming at you almost every week. They will be adding new features to they show, and perhaps one day will move into their own website.
